Angel City beat Seattle 3–1 at BMO Stadium on September 16, 2026, to reach 10 wins in a season for the first time. Ally Sentnor, Ary Borges and Taylor Suarez scored as the Los Angeles club kept its playoff hopes alive.
The night also brought a league record. According to Angel City, Suarez scored just 21 seconds after coming off the bench. The club described it as the fastest goal by an in-game substitute in NWSL history.
Seattle scored late through Sofia Huerta, but the hosts had already built a three-goal lead. Angel City took all three points in a match that carried both pressure and promise.

Sentnor and Borges Build the Lead
A penalty puts the hosts ahead
Sentnor opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 20th minute. It was her fourth goal of the season and her second penalty goal in two games.
Five days earlier, she had also scored from the spot in Angel City’s 3–3 draw with Denver Summit. This time, her goal gave the hosts a lead they would keep.
However, Seattle had chances to respond. Jess Fishlock hit the post, and Emily Sams helped clear the danger. Goalkeeper Angelina Anderson also stopped an effort from Maddie Mercado before halftime.
Borges makes it two before the break
In the 40th minute, Evelyn Shores sent the ball into the box after a corner. Borges met the delivery with a header to make it 2–0.
The goal was Borges’ third of the season. It also gave Angel City a two-goal cushion before the teams returned to the dressing rooms.
Taylor Suarez Scores Just 21 Seconds After Coming On
The third goal arrived in the 81st minute. Suarez had only just entered the game when she found space and scored, with Shores providing another assist.
Angel City’s report puts the gap between her arrival and her goal at 21 seconds. Suarez now has two goals in her rookie season, while Shores finished the night with two assists.
An assist is the final pass that sets up a goal. Shores’ deliveries helped create two of the three goals that separated the teams before Seattle’s late reply.
What the Win Means for Angel City
Huerta scored in added time to reduce Seattle’s deficit. Yet the late goal did not change the outcome: Angel City beat Seattle and reached a new club milestone.
The hosts also scored at least twice for a fourth straight match, another club record. Those goals have helped turn recent games into an important part of their playoff push.
Interim head coach Leif Smerud praised the team’s response to the pressure. His post-match comments focused on their competitive spirit and how they handled a game they knew mattered.
