No. 5 Vanderbilt Commodores women’s basketball defeated No. 10 Oklahoma Women’s Basketball 102–86 on Monday night, 9th February at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, with the Commodores controlling the game from an explosive first half, according to the official box score and recap. Vanderbilt improved to 23–2 overall and 9–2 in Southeastern Conference play, while Oklahoma fell to 17–6 and 5–5 in the SEC.
Sophomore guard Mikayla Blakes led all scorers with 34 points, and freshman Aubrey Galvan added a career‑high 30 points in the win. The duo became the first Vanderbilt backcourt teammates this century to score 30 or more points in the same game, according to the team’s official recap.
Vanderbilt’s offence set the tone early, scoring 59 first‑half points , the most Oklahoma has allowed in any half this season and building a 19‑point lead by half‑time. The Commodores shot efficiently from all areas of the court and forced the Sooners into 21 turnovers, converting them into 26 points.
The dynamic scoring from Blakes and Galvan was complemented by contributions from Justine Pissott (16 points) and Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda (13 points, nine rebounds). Vanderbilt’s backcourt efficiency helped open space and sustain scoring pressure throughout the game.

For Oklahoma, centre Raegan Beers recorded 19 points and 11 rebounds for her 62nd career double‑double before fouling out late, while Sahara Williams added 17 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Aaliyah Chavez scored 14 points but struggled from deep, going 0‑for‑11 from three‑point range.
Head coach Shea Ralph acknowledged the performance’s significance in the context of Vanderbilt’s season, noting the team capitalised on early opportunities and defensive intensity.
The victory sets up a high‑stakes matchup for Vanderbilt against No. 4 Texas later in the week, a game with implications for SEC standings and national seeding. Oklahoma will host Florida on Thursday, February 12th as it seeks to stabilise its tournament profile with key contests remaining.
